Employment

I currently supervise a team of computer programmers involved in moving our current database, called GEOCAT and which was built before RDB concepts came into existence, into an Oracle Database. I am also responsible for programming a survey called the Boundary and Annexation Survey. This survey is required as part of the preparation for the 2000 Census. In order to meet our deadlines, we need to convert the data into an Oracle Database and reprogram all of the applications necessary before conducting the 2000 Census. Needless to say, this is a pretty overwhelming task.

These databases are digital cartagraphic databases that use lists and pointers to represent geographical information about the entire U.S.
Good computing, debugging, and communication skills are essential to this job. The applications vary greatly depending upon the nature of the project or special request. Most of my experience was developing, debugging , executing C programs on a VAX/ALPHA environment. This job required experience with lots of different platforms, such as, ProC mixed with SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix along with Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports applications.
